I cannot tell you how important it is that we act precisely and quickly to help. WE have seven churches and three orphanages in Haiti. Our pastors and leaders on the ground have suffered tremendous loss. Bishop Jeune has had 22 deaths in one church and Pastor Daniel has had 16 in another church. WE need your help.
Since January 12 both of our compounds in Carrefour have become Refuge Centers housing almost 20,000 people that is on the hospital site compound in Grace Village in Lamentin and two thousand more people at Grace Tabernacle in Waney. These people have no place to go, nothing to eat and water is in short supply.
Our 51 girls and 31 boys at the children's home have been living outside since the earthquake because of the fears of after shocks that have ranged from 3.5 to 5.4. WE are now working on a plan to have them brought to the states for a few months until things get back to some livable condition. It takes $125 to get a passport for a child.
Our team on the ground has 30 years of experience in Haiti and Bishop Jeune has pioneered the gospel of grace across the nation. This is the place to be investing right now. Grace Village our property in Port-Au-Prince where the orphanage and hospital is based was unharmed but everything else was demolished. This facility therefore will be strategic in the coming days for the recovery effort.
The hospital is in current use now as a center for treating, feeding, and housing thousands. The immediate need is medical supplies including vitamins, pain medicines, bandages ALSO non-perishable food items and BOTTLED WATER. Other items needed are shoes and socks, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap and towels. WE are NOW accepting those items at Cedar Lake Christian Center. WE through and with Grace International have a distribution network of over 275 churches, schools, and clinics throughout the Island.
I pray you can hear the sound of the Nations calling but this is a literal cry. They are begging for help. I would already be on the ground there myself but they are canceling flights and only getting medical teams in and trying to get others and everyone else out. The over crowding is creating more hunger and more fear. So for now I will stay here and communicate with our ground troops. Our Main Facilities were unharmed and have become centers of refuge for thousands. The network already in place allows for greater effectiveness. The most important reason we will be in Haiti long after the other groups have turned off their cameras and gone back to life as normal. We are there for the long haul.
I plead with you to stand with us. For me this is not a news story it is the story of my family. I love Haiti and have cried more than I care to mention over those I personally prayed for just months ago that are now in heaven.
I know you will respond. I trust your heart. WE cannot all do the same thing but we can all do something. It is not equal giving but equal sacrifice.
We are hoping to have 15 of the children brought here to be housed for three months while the recovery continues. Please pray with us about that.
Together we can bring relief, rescue, and recovery to Haiti. Remember we cannot divorce ourselves from hurting humanity anywhere as it could be us tomorrow.
